Biography

Dr. Karin Jahn is physicist and obtained her PhD in 1989 from Philipps-Universität Marburg for her work on transport processes in photovoltaic semiconductor materials. From 1984 until 1989 she worked as junior scientist in the Department of Physic at the Philipps-Universität Marburg. During for years (1989 until 1993), she supervised research projects on the passive use of solar energy in the Department of Solar Thermal Systems at the Institut für Solarenergieforschung Hameln/Emmerthal (ISFH). Since 1993, she is senior scientist at the Bremen Energy Institute. She was a project manager in numerous research projects on the subject solar energy and energy efficiency in buildings. Since the completion of her post-graduate studies in economics at the FernUniversität Hagen, she is also involved in energy economics projects on issues such as the development of wind energy and future power generation in Germany.
Besides her scientific work she assists the director of the institute, Prof. G. Brunekreeft, in the management of the institute since March 2006.
