Biographie

Dr. Jürgen Gabriel joined the Bremer Energie Institut in 2002 as research associate. After his economic studies he worked at the Dortmund University where he received his doctorate on the subject of "Prognose regionaler Wohnungsnachfrage (Forecast of Regional Housing Demand)". He gained his first practical experience during his 8 years working at the department of urban development in Heidelberg. There he was, among other things, responsible for the coordination of the first Heidelberg Environmental Report. From 1990 until 2001 he worked for a local utility company (Stadtwerke Bremen AG and successor companies). He was principally in charge of the strategic development of the company and helped actively form the liberalisation initiated change from a public utility company into a competitive business company. His main fields of research are liberalised energy markets especially grid operation conditions, the economical integration of renewables into the supply system, as well as macroeconomic effects of different developments in the economical or political fields of the energy industry.
