Biography

Volker Wannack completed his degree in Industrial Engineering (focus: energy supply) at the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus, Germany, and studied System Dynamics at the University of Bergen, Norway. During his years of study he worked at the “Lehrstuhl Energieverteilung und Hochspannungstechnik” (a sub-department of energy distribution and high voltage technology) and the “Lehrstuhl für Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Besondere des Rechnungswesens und Controlling“ (a sub-department of business economics and specialties of accounting and controlling). Furthermore he gained valuable experience working at envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG, writing his research paper at Vattenfall Europe Generation AG & Co. KG and completing his diploma thesis in cooperation with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Since January 2008 he holds a PhD position at the Bremer Energie Institut. His current research areas are unbundling of electricity markets as well as regulation and its effects on network investments.
